DNA Test Should Be Mandatory It is time for states to demand DNA testing of all children to determine parentage at the time of birth. We have all heard the saying, "Momma's baby, Daddy's maybe?" That phrase was probably coined decades ago but thanks to modern technology, any question of a child's parentage can quickly and accurately be determine with the swap of a q-tip. That is why it is so perplexing state and federal governments will not mandate DNA testing to assure parentage prior to placing the name of the father on a state issued legal document. Outlandish? Maybe, but certainly practical in today's times. It would also be advisable for fathers to seek verification of parentage prior to signing a birth certificate. Recently, Divorce TV aired an episode of an young military man seeking a divorce due to infidelity of his spouse while he was away serving his country. He was questioning paternity of his younger daughter who was conceived during the marriage. The child was two years old and the father stated he did not question the mother until the child began to develop distinct character features very different from his own. The child also had the name of the mothers current boyfriend. DNA testing determined the child was not his and the father was devastated even though his suspicions were confirmed. The second child was tested and much to the dismay of the father his four year old daughter whose name he has tattooed across his chest was not his either. The mother stood with a contemptible grin while the judge admonished her knowing all along she had deceived the father. The judge's contempt for the mother and the law was very apparent as she ruled that the father was not responsible for child support for the younger child but because he had signed the birth certificate and was the "presumed father" of the older child, he would be financially responsible. No doubt the result of the ruling is blatantly unfair and speaks to the utter injustice the system affords fathers The system further compounds a fathers pain because he may loose any contact with the child he has bonded with because he has no legal standing as the father of that child even though he is financially responsible. This fathers' injustice could have been avoided had mandatory DNA testing been available at birth. Moreover, the father has no legal recourse against the mother to recoup his losses both financially and more importantly emotionally. Paternity fraud is one of the biggest crimes in America yet feminist and discount its affects as minimal and politicians conveniently avoid the true because of the money states are raking in from this misery. Afterall, the damage is usually done to the father and we know in America, fathers are worthless.. We know now the importance of a father in a child's life. Cheating and deceit is no just a male quality but runs deep in his female counterpart as well, All the more reason to junk the current child support system and start anew. Send responses to:
